Peffermill Upgrades Hockey Pitch

Peffermill Playing Fields is replacing the Hockey Pitch 1 carpet with state-of-the-art material this summer.

Polytan Platinum Cool Plus carpet is being fitted, which is also used at national performance hockey centres at Bisham Abbey and Glasgow Green. The project is set for completion by 21st August.

We are really excited about being able to make this investment and ensure Peffermill continues to deliver high quality facilities to all its users.

We are delighted that the surfaces are being re-laid to a high performance standard - and we look forward to continuing to use Peffermill as a centre of excellence, which will benefit both performance and recreational hockey players for many years to come.

Polytan supplied hockey surfacing for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and developed this product in consultation with performance hockey players and coaches.

The installation represents a £360,000 investment in Peffermill and is the first phase of a £3.15 million masterplan for outdoor sport at the University of Edinburgh.

The latest updates are that after several weeks of preparatory work, the contractors have started to lay the new carpet on our main hockey pitch. We expect to see rapid progress over the next few days, but with the first few rolls of carpet in place, it’s already apparent that this is going to be a world-class hockey facility.
