Dr / Prof Andrew Murray - Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine Dr / Professor Andrew Murray is a leading international expert specialising in preventing and treating illness and injury related to sport and physical activity, as well as performance optimisation and public health. He has worked across the Olympic, Paralympic, and Commonwealth Games and serves as Chief Medical and Scientific Officer for major international sports organizations, including DP World Tour Golf. A former Scottish international distance runner, he has completed extraordinary endurance events, including a 4,300km run from John O’Groats to the Sahara and seven ultra-marathons on seven continents in under a week. He has published over 120 scientific papers, is a sought-after keynote speaker on health and performance, and was honored with the UK Prime Minister’s Point of Light Award in 2016, and remains dedicated to advancing sports medicine, health promotion, and physical activity. Image Dr Alastair Nicol - Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine Dr Nicol is a highly experienced clinician and instructor specialising in elite sports medicine, military medicine, and immediate medical care. Currently serving as a Team Doctor in Formula 1, his responsibilities extend across multiple motorsport categories, including F1 Academy, F2, F3, and karting. With over 35 years in the military, he has held key leadership roles, including Director of Defence Rehabilitation and Defence Consultant Advisor (DCA), and has served on operations in Rwanda, the Congo, the Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Passionate about advancing sports medicine, he has been the Team GB Doctor for multiple Olympic Games, Match Day Doctor for the 2015 Rugby World Cup Final, and continues to support Scottish Rugby, the RFU, and international golf tournaments. A former age-grade rugby player for Scotland, his career has been shaped by extensive experience in musculoskeletal and expeditionary medicine, gained through service with The Parachute Regiment and Special Forces. Recognised as a leader in his field, he remains dedicated to enhancing athlete care and promoting physical activity on a global scale. Image Heather Binnington - Physiotherapist Heather Binnington is Head of Sport & Exercise Medicine at the University of Edinburgh Sport & Exercise department, leads Edinburgh Sports Clinic (formerly FASIC), and combines this with a clinical role as Advanced Practice Physiotherapist with a background in sports physiotherapy and orthopaedic medicine. She worked in orthopaedic, musculo-skeletal and specialist sport roles within the NHS, club and SRU age-grade rugby before moving to private practice, gaining clinic experience and leading the medical services for the University’s high performance sport programme. Heather also worked as lead physiotherapist with Scottish Hockey, for the Scotland Men’s Hockey team from 2014-2019, supporting their international programme and promotion back to European Championships. Her clinical interest lies in evidence-based and data driven injury prevention, rehabilitation and return to sport management. Image Sandi Lyall - Physiotherapist Sandi Lyall is an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist with a background in Sport and Exercise Medicine, having completed an undergraduate degree at Leeds Metropolitan University, gaining experience within the NHS and military facilities abroad, and then on to MSc at Trinity College, Dublin. Her career has spanned high-performance sports globally, including roles as clinic manager and lead clinician at a sports medicine facility in Chicago, working with elite and professional athletes. Since joining Edinburgh Sports Clinic (formerly FASIC) in 1999, Sandi led FASIC’s high-performance clinic service, working extensively with GB Boxing, GB Judo, and Team Scotland across four Commonwealth Games. She served as Team Physio for Scotland A, U19, U20, and U21 teams during the Six Nations and World Cup competitions for ~20years, and was seconded to Hibernian Football Club as Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science, contributing to their Scottish Cup victory and Premier League promotion. Passionate about injury management and rehabilitation, and empowering athletes to return stronger post-injury. Image Tracy McAdam - Physiotherapist Tracy is an experienced sports physiotherapist with a strong background in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation. She has worked with elite athletes across multiple sports, including football, rugby, hockey, motorsport, and swimming. Currently, she serves as Head of Performance Medical, supporting the high performance programme at the University of Edinburgh, Head Physiotherapist for Hearts Football Academy and Currie Rugby Club, and a F1 motorsport physiotherapist with Hintsa Performance (Mercedes). Her career includes roles with Scottish Rugby, Edinburgh Rugby, Scottish Hockey, and Team Scotland at the Glasgow and Birmingham Commonwealth Games. She has also contributed to the London Olympics and supported the All Blacks during the 2010 Autumn Internationals. Holding a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy, an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy, and multiple specialist qualifications, Tracy is passionate about helping athletes at all levels maximise their potential and return stronger post-injury. Image Eric White - Physiotherapist Eric White is a Specialist Sports Physiotherapist with over nine years of experience in musculoskeletal medicine, sports injury management, and post-operative rehabilitation. Having worked in both NHS and private practice, has extensive experience treating athletes across rugby, hockey, athletics, football, cycling, and powerlifting. His career includes time in New Zealand, where he worked with elite and international athletes, contributed to the Physiotherapy Team at the 2019 World Rugby Sevens, and served as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist in orthopaedic rehabilitation. He holds specialist qualifications in Clinical Pilates, Strength & Conditioning, and Advanced Immediate Care in Sport. Currently works with the University of Edinburgh high performance sport programme, supporting national and international athletes, and as part of the Scottish senior men’s hockey team’s physiotherapy team. Passionate about optimising recovery and performance, Eric integrates strength training, manual therapy, and Pilates into his practice to help athletes return stronger post-injury.
