Peffermill is Scotland’s National Hockey Academy with two floodlit water based astroturf pitches as its centrepiece. Image Key information Peffermill's water based artificial pitches are home to University mens' and womens' hockey clubs, intramural leagues and as a training and competition venue for other national and local league club teams. Both pitches comply with the most stringent performance criteria laid down by the International Hockey Federation (the world governing body for hockey). Peffermill was the first venue in Scotland to be formally certified to stage international hockey competitions. Our carpet on pitch 1 was the first Olympic grade carpet to be installed at a University facility and is also used at national performance hockey centres at Bisham Abbey and Glasgow Green. Polytan supplied hockey surfacing for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and developed this product in consultation with performance hockey players and coaches. Pitch One is dedicated solely for hockey and is used widely by elite level athletes associated with Scottish Hockey as well as national squads, club teams, school, college and development groups and recreational players.
