Peffermill is the Scottish Hockey Centre of Excellence with two floodlit water based pitches as its centrepiece. Image Key information Peffermill's water based pitches are home to the University Mens' and Womens' hockey clubs, intramural leagues and Scottish Hockey’s Senior Men’s and Women’s National Teams as well as a training and competition venue for other national and local league club teams. Both pitches comply with the most stringent performance criteria laid down by the International Hockey Federation. Peffermill was the first venue in Scotland to be formally certified to stage international hockey competitions. Our carpet on pitch 1 was the first Olympic grade carpet (Rio 2016) to be installed at a University facility and is also used at the national performance hockey centres at Bisham Abbey and Glasgow Green. Our carpet on pitch 2 was the first carbon zero carpet to be installed in Scotland. Polytan supplied hockey surfacing for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and developed this product in consultation with performance hockey players and coaches. Poligras Paris GT zero turf provides the best of both worlds. When wet, the turf is Olympic quality. When dry the turf, as identified by the FIH Innovation certification, is suitable for Hockey 5s to World Cup level, and Hockey 11s at school, club and community level.
