University of Edinburgh staff and students are invited to come along for a feel-good social bike ride to boost your wellbeing, mood and fit in some fun physical exercise! What are the Benefits of Cycling?Cycling is a healthy, low-impact exercise that has many health, fitness, wellbeing and environmental benefits. Getting some fresh air and going for a cycle can contribute to boosting your self-esteem, boosting your mood and reducing your anxiety. Having the chance to get out in nature on one of our social cycle rides can contribute to a greener planet, increase your fitness and allow you to meet other like-minded people.Event RequirementsThis is a beginner-level cycle ride, but you must be able to safely cycle in traffic or have completed Level 1 and 2 of cycle training.All riders must show respect to other road users and follow the Highway Code.Helmets are required.If you are bringing your bike, please ensure its road safe.What to Wear and BringWear whatever you feel comfortable in, avoid loose and baggy clothing that could get caught in the chain.Please check the forecast ahead of the ride and wear appropriate clothing for the weather.Bring snacks and water for the ride – ensure you have enough food to sustain you for the whole duration of the event.Any medication you might need for the session, e.g. Asthma medication.Bring sunscreen if the weather is hot and sunny.Want to borrow a bike and helmet?
