The University of Edinburgh is part of the BUCS UNIversal Gym Scheme

About BUCS UNIversal Membership

UNIversal Gym membership opens the doors to multiple gyms around the country, meaning you can work out wherever in the United Kingdom you are, helping you stay active all year round. 

This means if you have a eligible gym membership at your university gym of study and it's part of the network, you will have access to many more gyms around the country at no extra cost.

University of Edinburgh Students

Eligibility

Student members who hold a valid Full | Peak Gym, Class, Swim to 31 August 25 or Full | Climbing membership to August 25 can register to be part of the BUCS UNIversal Gym Scheme.

How to register

  • Download the BUCS Play App 
  • Register for an account or log into your existing account
  • Click on the "Links" button and select "BUCS UNIveral Gym"
  • Search for “The University of Edinburgh – UNIversal Gym” in the communities search bar
  • Apply for a BUCS UNIversal membership
  • Your request will be checked for eligibility and then be “approved” by our membership team. This may take up to 5 working days.
  • Once approved you will then be able to book sessions at other participating University gyms

Students from other Universities who are part of the UNIversal network

Eligibility

Those who have registered and hold a valid UNIversal Gym membership from their home institution are eligible. Please note that those from other universities in Edinburgh can not access our facilities using the BUCS UNIversal scheme.

What is included

Access to the world-class gym facilities from the University of Edinburgh at the Pleasance Sport Complex and Gym. Access to court sports, swimming, group exercise classes, climbing or the Easter Bush Gym is not included at this time.

How to book

  • Register for BUCS UNIversal membership at your home institution
  • Search for “The University of Edinburgh – UNIversal Gym” in the communities search bar
  • Select the "Gym Session" option
  • Select the day you wish to book. Please note that booking opens 3 days in advance.
  • Please report to the main reception on arrival. Please show your booking confirmation email and student ID from your home institution.
