Sukrit (Roy) Hotrabhvanon Image Image Credit: Mihaela Bodlovic Degree: BSc Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Sport: Archery Achievements in sport: - Scottish Field Champion 2014 - 1 Scotland cap, 1 Thailand cap - British target team champion indoor and outdoor 2014 - BUCS medals (individual and team), 2 gold, 2 silver - SSS medals , 7 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze Roy says: Before university at Edinburgh I had never done archery (or any sport) competitively before. The facilities and world-class coaching has turned me from never having picked up a bow to international representation. I could not have done this without the Performance Sport Programme and would like to thank Alistair Whittingham (Head of Performance Archery) and Steve Bishop (Head of Strength and Conditioning) for their time and patience. Robin Drummond Image Image Credit: Mihaela Bodlovic Degree: MA History Sport: Football Achievements in sport: - Captain of History Society Intramural Football Team - Vice President of Intramural - Sponsorship Officer (Sports Union) - Incoming Sports Union President Robin says: I’ve been playing Intramural football with the History Society team for all of my four years at the University of Edinburgh. It’s given me the opportunity to play sport casually while studying. In addition, I’ve sat on the Executive Committee of the University’s Sports Union for two years. I’ve gained experience in sports administration and development. Sport has played an integral part in my time at University. I can’t imagine having succeeded in my degree without having sport alongside it. Not only has the invaluable support from the staff and top of the range facilities allowed me to continue to compete at a high level, but I’ve also been given so many fun opportunities to meet and even train alongside some impressive athletes, from Sir Chris Hoy to the Australian Rugby team! Sandy Moore Image Image Credit: Mihaela Bodlovic Degree: MA Sociology Sport: Climbing Achievements in sport: - Climbed up to font 8a (v11) outside - 2nd place BUCS team - 5th place BUCS overall Sandy says: I’ve been climbing for around six years and during that time I've almost exclusively focused on Bouldering. I've climbed up to font 8a (v11) outside and have been fortunate enough to compete in the University's BUCS team in Sheffield. Last year the Mens' team came in an excellent 2nd place and I managed to snag 5th place overall! It genuinely changed my university experience. With 63 sports clubs, it caters for beginners right through to high performance athletes and I've been lucky enough to experience it from both aspects.
