Students make Olympic splash

Three Edinburgh students have been chosen to represent their countries in aquatic events at the Rio Olympics.

Second year sports science student Grace Reid will take to the pool for Team GB in the diving competition. Grace has already won gold with Tom Daley in the mixed three metre springboard event at the 2016 European Aquatics Championships, though will be going in the individual 3m springboard competition in Rio

Swimmer Nicholas Quinn, who achieved personal bests in qualifying for the Olympics, will represent Ireland in the 200 metre breaststroke. Nicholas is in his 4th year studying psychology.

The Cayman Islands will be represented in Rio by Edinburgh student Geoff Butler. The  swimmer has just finished his 2nd year of an accounting and finance degree and will compete in the 400m freestyle event.

The students will be joined by five athletes who are soon to begin their studies at Edinburgh.
